The Argentine Catholic University was founded in 1958. It has 15 faculties and campuses in Buenos Aires, Rosario, Mendoza and Paraná. In 2008, the libraries of UCA's Rosario campus centralized their collections and services with the inauguration of the Rosario Central Library, which with 3,200 square meters distributed across five floors, brought together a collection of 32,000 specialized books in Law, Chemistry, History and Economics. Its holdings also include periodicals and electronic collections of documents, multimedia, databases and special materials.
During July 2019, we installed a V-capture stand for digitizing special collections and other materials of interest to research institutes. The device was pre-assembled and painted in Buenos Aires. We transported the parts to Rosario for final assembly in their permanent location in the Library's Special Collections and Archives area. During our stay in Rosario, we conducted training sessions and initial usage tests.
In this development cycle of the V-shaped device, we incorporated an accessory support for mounting a shade, which isolates the digitization area from its surroundings and prevents ambient chromatic or light contamination. When working in controlled lighting environments (that can be turned into darkrooms), this accessory is not necessary.
